10-Camera CCTV System Reduces Theft at Dayton Retail Store
A mid-size retail store in Dayton, Ohio was experiencing a steady increase in shoplifting and internal shrinkage. Their existing camera system was outdated, low-resolution, and unable to provide usable footage for loss prevention. DLM Installations designed and installed a 10-camera HD IP surveillance system that transformed their ability to monitor and deter theft.
The Challenge
The store owner had been dealing with consistent inventory shrinkage for over a year. Their old analog cameras produced blurry footage that was useless for identifying incidents. The system had blind spots near high-value merchandise displays, the fitting room corridor, and the rear stock room. Without clear footage, they were unable to address losses or support insurance claims.
The Solution
DLM Installations performed a full site walk to map coverage gaps and identify the highest-risk zones throughout the 4,200 sq ft retail floor. We designed a 10-camera IP system using 4MP wide-angle dome cameras at the entrances and exit, PTZ cameras covering the main floor and registers, and varifocal cameras for the stockroom and receiving dock. All cameras fed into a commercial NVR with 30 days of local storage and cloud backup. The owner received a mobile app with live and recorded viewing from any device.
