155-Camera Enterprise CCTV Deployment for Cincinnati Distribution Center

A large Cincinnati-area distribution center operating 24/7 across a 380,000 sq ft campus needed a complete enterprise surveillance overhaul. Their legacy system was a patchwork of cameras from multiple vendors installed over many years, resulting in inconsistent coverage, constant maintenance issues, and no unified management. DLM Installations was contracted to design and deploy a unified 155-camera IP system across the entire campus.

The Challenge

The facility's existing surveillance infrastructure had grown organically over 12 years and consisted of three incompatible systems from different vendors. Large sections of the shipping floor, cross-dock staging area, employee break rooms, and the exterior truck yard had no working cameras. Maintenance costs were high, recorded footage quality was poor, and there was no centralized viewing platform. Loss prevention had identified significant ongoing shrinkage, a portion of which was attributed to organized internal theft during overnight shifts.

The Solution

DLM Installations spent two days conducting a full campus assessment before designing the system. The final design included 4MP dome cameras throughout all interior work areas, 8MP PTZ cameras at the cross-dock staging areas, 4K bullet cameras on all exterior building corners and truck yard coverage zones, license plate recognition at all four truck entrance gates, and varifocal cameras above every shipping and receiving station. The entire system was unified under a single enterprise VMS (Video Management Software) platform with role-based user access for security staff, management, and loss prevention. All cameras were homerun to a central IT closet on CAT6A cabling installed by DLM as part of the same project.

The Results

  • Internal theft activity on overnight shifts was identified and addressed within weeks of the system going live
  • Security staff can monitor all 155 cameras from a central station or remotely via desktop and mobile
  • Response time to incidents reduced from hours to minutes with real-time motion alerting
  • Annual shrinkage was significantly reduced in the first year post-installation
  • Insurance carrier provided a meaningful premium reduction upon review of the new system
  • System integrates with the facility's access control and alarm system for unified security management
  • All cameras tested and certified with documented coverage maps provided to the client
